چکیده

The objective of our work is to develop a platform independent management architecture for open distributed systems. In this paper we describe one component of this architecture which enforces the observance of formally definable management policies and executes clerical management tasks automatically. Management components are defined in terms of an objectoriented class structure and policies are represented by a variant of production rules. Rule execution and automated management tool invocation is controlled by a Marvel-based policy management environment.

Enforcing RBAC Policies over Data Stored on Untrusted Server (Extended Version)

One of the security issues in data outsourcing is the enforcement of the data owner’s access control policies. This includes some challenges. The first challenge is preserving confidentiality of data and policies. One of the existing solutions is encrypting data before outsourcing which brings new challenges; namely, the number of keys required to access authorized resources, efficient policy u...

Policy-Based Semantic Compliance Checking for Business Process Management

Compliance management, risk analysis, and auditing are disciplines that are critical for large scale distributed enterprise systems. The way these complex systems are developed and deployed makes the management and enforcement of enterprise goals or policies a hard task. This is also true for compliance management of business processes (BPs). Such an observation is emphasized if we give complia...

Enforcing Security Policies via Types

Security is a key issue for distributed systems/applications with code mobility, like, e.g., e-commerce and on-line bank transactions. In a scenario with code mobility, traditional solutions based on cryptography cannot deal with all security issues and additional mechanisms are necessary. In this paper, we present a flexible and expressive type system for security for a calculus of distributed...

Secure Management of Distributed Collaboration Systems

Our goal is to construct secure distributed collaboration systems by coupling their high-level specifications with a policy-driven middleware. This paper addresses three problems related to decentralized management of collaboration systems by a middleware. To correctly enforce security and coordination policies, the middleware determines which nodes can be trusted for enforcing policies related...

Napoleon: A Recipe for Workflow

This paper argues that Napoleon, a flexible, role-based access control (RBAC) modeling environment, is also a practical solution for enforcing business process control, or workflow, policies. Napoleon provides two important benefits for workflow: simplified policy management and support for heterogeneous, distributed systems. We discuss our strategy for modeling workflow in Napoleon, and we pre...
